Dear CGU Community,

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to assure you of our continued commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy campus community. We are taking the recommended and necessary measures to protect our staff, faculty, students and loved ones from contracting and/or spreading COVID-19.  Vaccines have now been approved for Emergency Use Authorization by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are becoming more readily available to persons employed by institutions of higher education in Los Angeles and surrounding counties. We know that many of you have taken the step to get vaccinated, while others may still be waiting.

If you decide to receive the vaccination, which we encourage you to do for your safety and the safety of others, we ask that you provide a copy of your CDC-issued vaccination card. While this is purely voluntary, electing to provide us with your vaccination card will assist in determining when, and under what circumstances, other health and safety measures may need to be implemented or possibly eliminated.  While we currently have no known specific use for this information, we are anticipating there will be CDC guidance that will lessen exposure management recommendations for individuals that have been vaccinated.  This could include forgoing screening testing, mask wearing, or allow access to spaces at typical density.  While we are not yet sure what this will be, if we are prepared with information on those in our community that were vaccinated, then we may be able to lessen restrictions faster for those who are vaccinated.

Additionally, we would like to provide support to our employee community to help those who want a vaccine and don’t yet have one.  We are looking at a path in partnership with Student Health Services, and can also provide information on where we know of available appointments.  Data on the portion of our community vaccinated could help us to better support individuals and make plans for the campus as a whole.

Please remember that being vaccinated is your choice – and if you have a medical condition, disability or sincerely-held religious belief that prevents you from being vaccinated, you will be accommodated even if CGU decides to require vaccinations at some point in the future.

The details and information of the vaccination card will be kept within Human Resources and separate from any current personnel record and treated with appropriate confidentiality. It will only be disclosed and used by CGU for COVID prevention and mitigation efforts or as otherwise required or authorized by law.  Please do not provide any other medical information.

This is strictly voluntary, but if you would like to upload a copy of your card you may do so by following this link:  https://info.cgu.edu/emergency/vaccination-upload
