Dear CGU Staff and Faculty,
CGU’s campus reopening is just a few days away. We look forward to welcoming our community back in a manner that promotes the health and well-being of everyone at CGU. Visit the CGU YouTube page for a welcome back message from President Len Jessup.
Before returning, please ensure you understand all procedures and requirements. If you have any questions or need clarification, check in with your direct supervisor, dean, or area vice president.
Vaccine Requirement – Given the proven efficacy of U.S. COVID-19 vaccines, imminent full federal approval, and the proliferation of highly contagious variants, obtaining a vaccine or an approved exemption is now required and is a condition of employment. Please upload your vaccine card or submit an exemption request before returning to campus.
Testing – All non-vaccinated community members with approved exemptions who plan to return to campus will be tested for COVID-19 regularly. Individuals and their supervisor and/or area vice president will be notified as to how often they are required to test. Human Resources will share test results with the supervisor/area vice president. Testing will be done at Student Health Services. Individuals required to test will be provided with additional details.
Masks – Masks are required to be worn by everyone indoors. Currently, there is no delineation between vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals. Masks must be worn properly, which is covering the nose and mouth. Masks may be removed briefly for eating/drinking. Please maintain physical distance when removing a mask. There are no exceptions or modifications permitted to the mask requirement in any CGU building, office area, or classroom environment.
Outdoor Activities – Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear a mask at outdoor events. While not required, vaccinated personnel are welcome to wear a mask while participating in outdoor CGU events. Please practice distancing at outdoor events.
Daily Form Submission – The campus visits request form and QR entry/egress monitoring into CGU buildings will be suspended on August 16. The daily health check symptom form must be filled out each day before coming to campus or entering a CGU building. If you feel any cold- or flu-like symptoms, do not come to campus. Instead, check in with your supervisor/area vice president.
Healthy Habits – Please maintain healthy habits that can help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and the highly contagious variants. Wash your hands often. Maintain physical distance when possible. Wear a mask.
Mindful Meetings – While there is no requirement for distancing indoors, be mindful of the number of people in meeting rooms. Continue using digital communication tools and take advantage of the enhanced wi-fi available around campus, including outdoor locations.
Campus Visitors – Generally speaking, avoid bringing or inviting others to campus unless they need to conduct CGU business. Campus visitors must be fully vaccinated. All visitors should be asked to assess their health before a visit and refrain from coming to CGU if they do not feel well or exhibit any cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms. All visitors must check-in at the Office of Admissions and Visitor Information to fill out a visitor form and receive a visitor badge. Check-in is required each day a visitor is on campus. Visitors must adhere to CGU policies, such as wearing a mask while indoors.
Hagelbarger’s Cafe – Hagelbarger’s Cafe will be up and running by early September with grab-and-go food options and coffee service. Until then, Hagelbarger’s and the adjoining dining room are closed. Details to come on Hagelbarger’s offerings.
Office functionality – As we return to campus, please be patient as we work through any unexpected technology or facilities issues. If you experience a problem in your workspace, submit a ticket to Facilities (If you don’t have a username/password, request one from Facilities). Likewise, if you experience a problem with technology, please contact OIT using one of the e-help channels listed here.
We look forward to seeing staff and faculty on campus beginning August 16. Our students will soon follow with a fall semester start date of August 30. As we return, please follow the stated guidelines for your health and the health of your fellow CGU colleagues and community members.
