Dear CGU Staff,

This is a follow up to the telecommuting logistics memo you received. This communication is to provide information specific to technology preparations and assistance needed to operationalize the emergency telecommuting policy.

Effective Monday March 16, 2020, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will establish a dedicated space for in-person technology support needs of the CGU community in Academic Computing Building room ACB 214. Until further notice, the third floor OIT offices will be inaccessible to the user community. To assist staff with all the telework-related matters, please come to ACB 214. For assistance with any other technology issues, please continue to use the usual means of contacting the helpdesk listed on the Operational Continuity website.

Due to a limited supply of available loaner computers, we request that you use your personal computer if you do not have a CGU issued laptop computer. If your supervisor requests a loaner computer for you and one is available, you will be contacted by the OIT Staff to come to ACB 214 to pick one up. If you can use your own laptop computer, you’re welcome to bring it (with its power cord) to ACB 214 so it can be configured with appropriate security software, VPN, and other technology necessary to enable telework. You will be provided with basic instructions at that time. For additional help, please attend one of the training workshops specifically established for staff. We will hold the workshops in our largest ACB classroom room 214 so we can follow the recommended public health and social distancing guidelines. The workshops will be available via Zoom for individuals who are able to attend remotely. The training schedule will be posted on the same website by Monday morning.

In preparation for telecommuting, please make a note of the following points:

  • Ensure that your Duo two-factor authentication is enabled to use an off-campus factor such as your home phone, mobile phone or Duo mobile app.
  • Remember to forward your office phones to a personal phone number. You can do this even while you are away from the office.
  • Please reach out to our 24/7 remote helpdesk if you are unable to reach the onsite OIT staff member. They have been given special instructions and knowledge needed to assist you.
