CGU is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and is following local, state, and national health organization guidance in developing this plan. As conditions change, the procedures and protocols will be updated accordingly. Please regularly consult this plan for updates.

The State of California’s most recent COVID-19 Industry Guidance: Institutions of Higher Education, was issued on August 10, 2020. It directs institutions to work with their respective county public health officials on a phased reopening/repopulating plan. These plans must follow the requirements prescribed in the guidance; reopening is dependent on whether or not the county is on the County Monitoring List (or has not been for three consecutive days). For institutions in counties that are on the Monitoring List for three consecutive days, indoor lectures are prohibited. Courses offered in specialized indoor settings (e.g., labs, studio arts), whose design imposes substantial physical distancing on participants based on the nature of work performed in the space, may be permitted.

Los Angeles County is currently on the monitoring list. Colleges and universities in Los Angeles County may continue their essential operations, but most academic instruction must continue to be done via distance-learning. All requests by faculty, students, and staff to come to campus must follow the procedures outlined below and must obtain prior approval.

Review the procedures below so you know how to make your request, and if approved, what to expect during your upcoming visit. Please note that this plan covers the procedures for faculty, staff, and students to visit campus for academic purposes. Vendor or one-off visits will continue to be handled through a separate process.
