CGU will implement an Online Flex option in which all classes will be conducted fully online except for labs, studios, practica, one-on-one tutorials, and research studies that require hands-on work and physical access to campus spaces. Eligibility for on-campus activity is subject to CGU approval and to CDC, state, and county health and safety guidance.
Only student-facing and essential personnel will return to campus with any regularity in fall. Staff that can fully perform their duties while working remotely are asked to continue that procedure until further notice. Please check with your supervisor for specific reporting instructions.
Returning to Campus
Requirements before returning to campus: All staff, faculty, and students will be required to take a brief online program before returning to campus. The program will inform individuals about what to expect while on campus and the enhanced procedures being taken by the university regarding sanitizing, social distancing, and more. Additionally, the training will outline what is expected of all individuals returning to campus, including the use of personal protective equipment, which will be provided by the university.
Staff will likely return to campus in phases. When in-person instruction begins, it is expected the staff supporting student-facing activities will return. It will be up to the department leader to develop a plan and schedule that supports work productivity and employee considerations.

Campus Procedures
During the campus shutdown, all buildings on campus have been cleaned and sanitized. Enhanced cleaning procedures will remain in place when employees and students return to campus. Sanitation stations are being installed in classrooms and other high-volume areas.
When on campus, employees are required to wear face coverings in the proper manner (nose and mouth covered) when walking throughout the campus and in any shared space. Masks may be removed only in an environment in which an employee works in a non-shared and private space. Cubicle spaces or any offices with portable partitions are not considered private and masks must be worn. CGU will provide face masks to all staff who work on campus.
You should monitor your temperature each day you are on campus. If your temperature is 100.4 degrees or higher or you exhibit other symptoms consistent with COVID-19, you should stay home and seek health advice. All students and staff planning to be on campus are asked to fill out a Qualtrics survey daily so that we can use this information for contact tracing if necessary. Only Human Resources staff will have access to this data, and it will be deleted on a monthly basis.
Everyone is encouraged to follow the health and safety guidelines shared by the CDC and the Public Health Department.
Travel
All university-sponsored travel is prohibited at this time. Any exceptions must receive approval from a dean or vice president. Any student or employee who travels domestically or internationally must quarantine for 14 days before coming on campus in compliance with CDC guidance.
Telework
Only student-facing and essential personal will return to campus with any regularity in fall.
For those employees that do not support student-facing and/or essential on-campus operations, you will continue to work remotely until further notice. Department supervisors are developing plans for each function. Please check with your supervisor for more information.
COVID-19
Any employee that feels ill or has any symptoms aligned with COVID-19 should not come to campus. Please contact your doctor for advice and possible testing.
View current CDC guidelines on COVID-19 and returning to work.
If you have tested positive or been directly exposed to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19, please isolate yourself from others immediately and seek advice from your doctor. You must isolate for no less than 14 days before returning to campus. View current CDC guidelines on when to quarantine.
If a staff or faculty member needs to enter a period of isolation and cannot work, sick leave will be applied to time away from work. Please contact HR for further information or to discuss individual situations.
To support the overall health of our community, we request that any CGU community member that tests positive for COVID-19 AND who has been to campus in the previous month, notify CGU Human Resources, alejandra.gaytan@cgu.edu.
If you feel the need to be tested for COVID-19, please contact your personal healthcare provider for information.
Employees that test positive for COVID-19 or who have been directly exposed to someone else that has tested positive should inform Human Resources as soon as possible. Human Resources staff will conduct contact tracing to identify and alert anyone with whom you may have had contact while on the CGU campus.
